New & Boxed (Retail) |
Equipment is in original
OEM packaging with all components and consumables new and sealed as
provided by the manufacturer. Where defined as Retail, these are
recent models covered by manufacturers warranty and are usually
sourced through the approved manufacturers Distribution
channel. |
New & Boxed (New) |
Equipment is in original
OEM packaging with all components and consumables new and sealed as
provided by the manufacturer. Some New & Boxed items stocked may
actually be obsolete, and the warranty may not be full
manufacturers, but will be stated on invoice (please ask if not
clear). |
New Open Boxed (NOB) |
Equipment is in original
OEM packaging and as-new condition. Consumables may not be
included as some of these items may be ex-display. As some of these
may actually be obsolete, the warranty may not be full
manufacturers, but will be stated on invoice (please ask if not
clear). |
Refurbished |
The dictionary
definition of Refurbishment is - the state of being restored to
its former good condition. A Refurbished 2nd user
printer will therefore be in A1 condition and with new parts
(rollers, fusers, pads, covers etc.) as appropriate to bring it back
to an as-new condition. Refurbished parts have new components (e.g.
fusers with new rollers or sleeves) replacing the parts that wear
out. If you are buying Refurbished make sure it is not just
cleaned up! |
Grade A |
Second user equipment
that is complete, cleaned, tested and generally serviced, with any
apparent defective parts repaired/replaced as necessary to meet
warranty requirements. Grade A units are in good cosmetic
condition, allowing for normal usage and the age of the unit (some
slight discolouration is normal on older printers). Grade A does
not actually mean ‘mint’ or ‘refurbished’. |
Grade B |
Second user equipment
that is cleaned, tested and working, but may have cosmetic flaws,
parts missing or minor problems which will be defined with the
sale. This is a common grade for older printers where new plastic
covers are unavailable or uneconomic to source at the price offered. |
Grade C |
Second user equipment
that is sold as-is. May be working or not, but condition and terms
will be stated with sale. Warranty is usually DOA (if working) or
without warranty if not. |
Pull |
Used to describe a part
or assembly pulled from a working unit for sale as a used spare
part. Parts are usually cleaned, but not ‘refurbished’. |
Exchange Unit |
Used to describe a basic
printer unit without the peripheral parts (trays, external PSUs,
dongles, consumables etc.) to be used to replace a faulty printer.
|
Consumables |
Consumables are as
defined by the manufacturer for specific printers, with the term
usually encompassing toners, cartridges, ribbons, media, image
transfer units and drums (refer to manufacturers’ documentation for
specific models). Once opened consumables do tend to deteriorate
and therefore any used consumables provided in a used printer are
not normally covered by any warranty. Used printers may be provided
as standard without consumables … please ask your supplier if
unclear. |
Distribution |
Equipment manufacturers
sell new equipment only through a small number of trade channels
(Distributors) across Europe. Retailers (or authorised Re-Sellers)
sell these to end-users and then administer (but rarely provide)
warranty support, which usually is via an approved warranty provider
in the country of sale. |
RTB Warranty |
RTB (Return To Base)
Warranty is provided on the basis that the goods should be returned
to us during the warranty period for examination. Repair or a
replacement will be offered providing that the equipment returned is
in the same condition provided (not tampered with) and failure was
not attributable to wilful damage or caused by improper use. |
